Camphene
Camphene is a natural terpene found in a variety of plants and essential oils such as nutmeg, cypress oil, sage, bergamot, camphor oil, citronella, fir, cypress, spruce, neroli, ginger, pine, rosemary, and mothballs. It has a distinct aroma that is characterized as a waxy, musky, earthy, and slightly woody scent. The terpene is primarily responsible for the pungent, medicinal smell in cannabis. The strong aroma of wet pine needles immediately invades your senses, creating a “wet-earth” smell.
The key benefit of this terpene is its antiviral properties. It is said to help clear the lungs and provide respiratory relief, as well as boost immunity, and reduce inflammation. In addition, camphene is known to have sedative properties, anxiolytic properties, and aid digestion.
